This is rambutaan. When you cut it open, there is a fruit inside that tastes like a peeled grape and is very sweet.
It has a large seed in the middle.
It grows on a tree and is beautiful.

These are the tiniest bananas we have ever seen.

They are only the size of my thumb. It is like eating toy food!
This is the view from our office window. We love the color of the apartment building across the street. It makes us happy every day.

Bryson thought that palm trees only grew on the beach, but here are coconut palms growing across the street from our house. They are probably 35 feet tall or more.
To get these coconuts, men climb up and cut them with a "bolo" (machete) and they fall down. You don't want to be underneath when they fall!
Here is a coconut delivery truck. The men have to be good catchers to get the coconut and put it by the road.
These are coconuts at a roadside stand. When you cut into them, you find the brown hairy coconut we are used to seeing. Inside is the "buko" juice or coconut water. Buko is the word for young coconut.
Our landlord brought us some "chesa". It kind of tastes like squash powdered sugar. It sort of melts in your mouth. The two seeds in the middle of each fruit are shiny and beautiful.
Remember the trees across the street that got the "pruning" with the chain saw? This is how they look a few weeks later. Maybe that is why we look older here--everything grows so fast!
Beautiful new pets going home. It is difficult to see, but there are two birds in the cage. They will sing to each other.
If you are in need of peace and simplicity, maybe this house is for rent
in the rice fields of Pangasinan--or you can come on a mission and have
joy too!
