The Making of an Organist

It sounds simple enough... take keyboard instructions for a few weeks and you have a branch organist! No, not so. Mom couldn't get the keyboard training material from the Manila distribution center so she downloaded the material and printed out hundreds of pages of material for her and her student.

Ok. now let's get going! No, schedules need to be coordinated around times when both are available and the building is open. OK, worked through all that. Now we're ready! No, the keyboard won't work. Oh, that's not a problem we'll just poke these bare wires into the socket and it will work sister. Yup, sure enough, it worked!

Now we are ready to train a new organist. Well maybe. It is about 90 degrees and humid outside and hotter and more humid inside the chapel. The power goes out from time to time, the building is not opened, the typhoons and tropical storms flood the roads and there is no access to a keyboard for practice at home. It's slow, but mom will not be discouraged and neither will our dear sister, the future organist. They have been working at it for a month now and our sweet sister is understanding that it will take more than a few weeks to learn how to play hymns for sacrament meeting. With faith, great hope and a lot of work they are making good progress.

Smiles of progress.

Time for me to get out of here and let the women get to work.
